Certification Classes


Registrations for Certification Classes is on a first come, first serve basis in person or through the online registration portal.  If you have any questions, please call the GAC front desk at 336.315.8498.  When registering, please provide the participant's email.

Registration fees for Certification Classes are nonrefundable.  Credit on account may be given on a case-by-case basis.

Lifeguard Certification Classes

Initial full Certification

This American Red Cross Certification class covers Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED skills. 

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum Age = 15 years
  • Must be able to swim 150 yards continuously, tread for 2 minutes without the use of arms, and then proceed with an addition 50 yard continuous swim.  Swim must be performed using front crawl and breast stroke techniques, not backstroke.
  • Must be able to surface dive 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 lb weight, return to surface, and swim an additional 20 yards while carrying weight on chest.

Full Certification Cost: $350

Recertification

If you have been certified previously, this class will extend your certification for two years.

Prerequisites:

  • Previous certification must have been American Red Cross Certification.
  • Previous certification must be active (not expired).  If your certification is expired, please contact Chris Breed at the GAC to determine if you meet the requirements for the recertification class.

Recertification Cost: $200


Water Safety Instructor Certification Classes

This American Red Cross Certification class trains instructor candidates to teach courses in the ARC Swimming and Water Safety Program. 

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum Age = 16 years
  • Must be able demonstrate and proficiently complete 25 yards of
    • Front Crawl
    • Back Crawl
    • Breaststroke
    • Sidestroke
    • Elementary Backstroke
    • Butterfly (15 yards)
  • Must be able to tread water for 1 minute.
  • Must be able to maintain back float for 1 minute.

WSI Certification Cost: $400


NSPF Certified Pool/Spa Operator Certification Training

The most widely accepted, verifiable pool and spa training credential.

Registration will be open for all offerings until three days prior to the class start date.

We currently do not have any available CPO classes.  Please check back for future class dates.
