The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) served as the site of four local swimming championships July 6-15, hosting a total of 3,525 youth swimmers while drawing 16,336 spectators to the state-of-the-art facility.
The busy month began with the Durham Summer Swim League Championships on July 6 with 819 swimmers hitting the water before 1,479 total spectators. The following weekend (July 10-12) saw the return of one of the GAC’s largest annual events – the Greensboro Community Swim Association City Meet. This year’s Greensboro City Meet featured 1,434 swimmers from 20 teams bringing a total 11,678 spectators over the three-day meet. The following day (July 13), the GAC hosted the Greater Forsyth Swim League Championship with 951 participants from 21 teams, drawing 2,635 swim fans. The string of community of swim championships concluded with the July 15th High Point Community Swim Association Meet which brought out 544 fans to watch 321 swimmers in action.
“It’s been an incredibly exciting and busy month of hosting youth swimming events,” said GAC manager David Hoover. “We’re proud to serve our local swimming community as the site for not only Greensboro’s City Meet, but also High Point, Durham and Forsyth County championships as well.”
The GAC’s busy July continues next week with its hosting of the USA Swimming TYR Futures Championships July 23-26.
