The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) has been selected to host the 2027 YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championship.
“YMCA competitive swimming is about so much more than what happens in the pool,” said Meredith Griffin, Director of Sports Strategy at YMCA of the USA. “These events give young athletes the opportunity to challenge themselves, build confidence and character, and experience the sense of community that makes Y sports so special. The Greensboro Aquatic Center continues to be an incredible home for YMCA swimming, and we’re proud to continue a partnership that creates meaningful experiences and lasting memories for athletes, coaches, and families from across the country.”
The GAC has previously hosted the YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championship on three occasions (2017, 2022, 2023). The 2027 Championship (July 26-31) is expected to feature more than 800 swimmers and is projected to generate more than $2.2 million in economic impact (source: Greensboro Convention and Visitors Bureau).
“We are thrilled to welcome the YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championship back to the Greensboro Aquatic Center for the fourth time,” said GAC Manager David Hoover. “Our long-standing partnership with the YMCA of the USA is built on a shared commitment to providing athletes with an exceptional experience. We look forward to once again welcoming swimmers, coaches and YMCA officials to Greensboro and showcasing why the GAC has become a premier destination for championship swimming.”
The 2027 YMCA Short Course National Swimming Championships will be hosted by the Greensboro Aquatic Center in cooperation with the Greensboro Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and Greensboro Sports Foundation.
