Over 2,000 swimmers in Greensboro for 2026 USMS Spring National Championship

The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) is excited to welcome more than 2,000 swimmers this week as it hosts the 2026 U.S. Masters Swimming Spring National Championship. The event will begin tomorrow (April 30) and run through May 3.

The event will feature at least nine Olympians and competitors ranging in age from 18 to 95. More than 25 USMS records are expected to be broken.

“Spring Nationals is one of the most inspiring showcases of what makes U.S. Masters Swimming special: adults of all ages coming together to pursue fitness, competition, and community through swimming,” U.S. Masters Swimming CEO Dawson Hughes says. “We’re grateful to return to the Greensboro Aquatic Center, a world-class venue that consistently delivers an outstanding experience for our members, including the more than 300 swimmers from North Carolina who have an opportunity to compete in a national championship close to home.”

The GAC has previously hosted this prestigious event three times – 2012, 2016 and 2021. This year’s event is expected to generate an estimated economic impact of $3.9 million (source: Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau).

“We are thrilled to welcome back U.S. Masters Swimming and host its Spring National Championship for the first time in five years,” said GAC manager David Hoover. “We look forward to showcasing Greensboro’s famous southern hospitality this week and providing an outstanding experience for the swimmers, coaches and USMS officials.
