2026 TYR College Club Swimming National Championship to bring over 1,600 swimmers to Greensboro Aquatic Center

The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC), College Club Swimming and the Swim Club at NC State are excited to welcome more than 1,600 swimmers this week as Greensboro hosts the TYR College Club Swimming National Championship for the first time.

The prestigious event will begin Friday, Apr. 10 and run through Apr. 12 with 1,628 athletes from an event-record 144 teams competing over six sessions. The event is projected to generate $3.2 million in economic impact for the Greensboro area (source: Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau).

“Bringing the 2026 TYR College Club Swimming National Championship to Greensboro for the first time was an easy decision,” U.S. Masters Swimming CEO Dawson Hughes says. “The Greensboro Aquatic Center is a premier venue, offering the competition, warm-up, and spectator space that’s increasingly difficult to find but essential for a meet of this caliber. Just as important, the GAC staff has been an outstanding partner, making the planning process seamless. We’re looking forward to delivering a national championship experience in an electric atmosphere for our CCS swimmers.”

Formerly known as the East Coast Collegiate National Championships (ECC), Georgia Tech Swim Club first hosted this meet with six teams and 73 swimmers in attendance in its inaugural year (2004). With the elimination of many varsity swimming programs across the country, the collegiate club scene has seen a spike in participation; the meet has grown into the largest and fastest collegiate swim meet outside of the NCAA. At last year’s meet hosted by Swim Club at ASU at Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa, AZ, Georgia Tech Swim Club was the overall champion, while Purdue Swim Club took home the men’s championship and Club Swimming at the University of Virginia won on the women’s side.

The hosting of the College Club Swimming National Championship continues an extraordinarily busy month of April for the GAC. The state-of-the-art venue recently wrapped up hosting the YMCA Short Course National Swimming Championships (1,258 swimmers) last week and will host the U.S. Masters Swimming Spring Nationals at the end of the month.

“We are thrilled to bring several elite events to Greensboro this month highlighted by our first-ever TYR College Club Swimming National Championship,” said GAC manager David Hoover. “We look forward to showcasing Greensboro’s famous southern hospitality this week and providing an outstanding experience for the swimmers, coaches and College Club officials.”
