2019 ‘Learn to Swim’ Graduation Ceremonies

June 6, 2019 – A pair of special graduation ceremonies were held this week to recognize the 1,782 second grade students who completed the Greensboro Aquatic Center’s “Learn to Swim” program in the 2018-19 school year.

On June 3, a ceremony was held at Andrews High School for the students from the 10 particitpating High Point elementary schools. On June 5, a ceremony for the 21 participating Greensboro elementary schools was held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse.

In conjunction with the Guilford County Schools, the number of participating schools in the curriculum-based ‘Learn to Swim’ healthy lifestyle program has grown each year. The 1,782 graduates from 31 schools -– the most in the program’s eight-year history – now bring the total number of students who have been impacted by this life-changing program since its inception (in 2011) to 6,795.

Students, parents, school administrators and GAC staff were in attendance for both ceremonies.
